Inspired by the stems and petals that fill sun drenched fields, and shadowy back lane nooks all summer long, this series is meant to preserve a little bit of that wildness.

Each piece is made by first laying out a background shape in pale coloured wool, and then rolling bits of roving to shape stems and petals which are placed on top. The whole piece is then fused together through the process of wet felting. After it drys, I add some needle felted seeds or centres as a way to give it more dimension.

Once the piece is ready, I sew it onto an 1/2” oak dowel. The raised felted shapes end up with a lovely boiled wool texture that adds a lot of warmth to a room. The background of this piece is a warm cream.

The wool portion of this piece measures, 7×9.5” and the overall width and height that it requires on the wall is, 9×13”.
