Inspired by the places we travel to, both in real life, and in our imagination. This piece is designed to be a playful reminder that our planet (and our minds) are full of surprises and there is always something new to notice and be delighted by.

It is made by first laying out a background shape in wool roving, and then rolling bits of colourful wool to shape hills and rivers, and meadows. The whole piece is then fused together through the process of wet felting.

Once the piece is ready, I sew it onto an 1/2” oak dowel. The felted wool ends up with a lovely nubbly texture that adds a lot of warmth to a room. The background of this piece is a warm cream.

The wool portion of this piece measures 8×12” and the overall width and height that it requires on the wall is, 9×15”.
